How
do I set up an autoresponder?
For
Unix
For
Linux
Autoresponders
automatically send reply messages when others send email messages
to particular addresses. This feature is available with all
of NetLiance Hosting & Maintenance Services. Autoresponders
are turned off by default when your domain is set up.
For
BSDI (Unix) Servers
There
are 5 pre-configured autoresponders you can use. The content
of the autoresponse message can be found in the packets
directory in your root directory.
These
are the 5 pre-configured autoresponders addresses and their
respective configuration files:
info@xyz.com
info.txt
sales@xyz.com info2.txt
webmaster@xyz.com info3.txt
support@xyz.com info4.txt
billing@xyz.com info5.txt
You
can edit the text files to your specification.
To
turn on autoresponder for one of the above email addresses,
simply use your Control Panel to place a # sign in the "Forward
Address" box. In effect the # sign forwards emails to
the autoresponder for further instructions.
Do
not change any part of the .domain file as this file is overwritten
by the Control Panel.
Please
be aware that we don't support the list-serve function inherent
in mReply, the autoresponder program.
For Linux Servers
Use
the Control Panel
to select the email address you want to use as an autoresponder.
Then enter a subject line and text where prompted. That's
it. To turn off the autoresponder, remove the respective text
from the subject and body fields.
